World-Renowned Studio Musicians

Cazador has a pro team of studio musicians to play on your material, including guitar players, bassists, horn players, drummer, singers and more -- if you need them. Check out a few of the top players.

John onstage with Edgar Winter
John Duva -- Guitar
Duva and Jimmy have been musical compadres since they attended high school together in Detroit. John is a long time veteran rock/country/bluesman and studio musician. He also doubles on pedal steel. A hard core real road worker and former member of the Edgar Winter Band, he can still most often be found touring the country. John's distinct guitar artistry can be heard on many Cazador produced tracks.

David Scott -- Guitar
This Chicago funkster is one hard-working guitarist. You see him in the studio and on the road with the likes of K-Ci & Jo Jo, Chanté Moore, Thelma Houston, Howard Hewitt and most of the Motown groups from one time or another. He's also the guitarist for Della Reese's "Understanding Principles for Better Living" Church. Scott always comes up with a choice lick that makes a good song even better.

Tom Powers -- Piano
A treasured lifelong music partner to Jimmy, they have been performing together with a dynamic and almost magical musical rapport since 1972 and still do to this day. They will be appearing in Tom's jazz trio at the Embassy Suites for New Year's Celebration 2003 commemorating 31 years of jammin' friendship! Jimmy considers Tom to be one of his musical mentors and credits Powers for much of his harmony singing fundamentals. Powers often flies in from his home in Phoenix, AZ for Cazador piano sessions. He plays in styles ranging from George Winston to Jeff Lorber.

Bob Birch -- Bass
One cannot say enough about this studio bass groovemeister. Bob is the man! Jimmy has been jamming with Birch since Bob was in the 4th grade. Today Bob is the bassist for Elton John. You may have also seen Birch with José Feliciano for many years. Bob is a great reader and has an awesome feel on the bass. Birch's bass rapport with Hunter's drumming is over 30 years dating back to their Jr. High School days in Detroit. Now that is a formula for tight bass and drums. Bob Birch is pictured below working out at Cazador with Jimmy Hunter producing and drumming.

Lance Morrison -- Bass

Lance Morrison "Traveling Light"
Lance has been playing on many Jimmy Hunter-produced recordings at Cazador over the years. You have no doubt seen or heard Morrison with the likes of Don Henley, Alanis Morrisette, Rick Springfield and Rod Stewart. He also is a solo recording artist. His CD is call Einstein's Brain. Morrison is a virtuoso studio musician who has brought his great skill to many a Cazador production.

Jesse Stern -- Bass
Jesse is the new kid on the block at Cazador--a young bassist who is also a solo recording artist in his own right. Hailing from Seattle, his sensiblities really augment the studio projects on which he play. For his age, he projects an older player's spirit and seasoning.

Robert "Bobbo" Staron -- Upright String Bass
Bobbo has recorded three CDs at Cazador in the 90's which Jimmy produced. Today he is the acoustic string bass player for Border Radio, a Los Angeles western/bluegrass influenced band. Staron is heard on Mark Kent's lastest English Sailing Songs CD and now handles many of the acoustic bass calls at Cazador.

Bill Pitman -- Bass
What an incredible bass player! Della Reese, Yolanda Adams, Thelma Houston and Rose Royce keep this Ohio native moving all over Los Angeles and regions beyond. Bill is available when the funk is required at Cazador.

John Harden -- Alto Sax
Another Detroit Connection horn man, known for his work with Andy Frazier (bass player of Free) and Iggy Pop. John is a rock 'n roll alto player, influenced by the Edgar Winter school of "take no prisoners" saxophone playing. Hunter and Harden have been in bands together since Hunter was in the 7th grade -- well, Harden was in the 8th! John flies in from Flagstaff, AZ for sessions.

Rocky Tatarelli -- Tenor Sax
Rocky T. is a Cazador import from Oakland, CA. Jimmy played with this tenor sax legend in Detroit back in the '70s and "The Rock" is still blowing people away with his magnificent note choices and wrenching emotional tone. Hunter plans to produce an instrumental CD with Tatarelli, which will include a new version of the classic hit "Tequilla."

Wayne Wayne -- Sax and all Woodwinds
This "Detroit native relocated to Los Angeles" sax man has and abundance of soul and passionate fervor in his playing. A friend and former bandmate of Jimmy's since the early '70s. Wayne's sound is reminiscent of Grover Washington. He also plays flutes and other winds.

The Sala Brothers: Trumpeter Joe Sala (right) and his brother, drummer Tom Sala
The Sala Brothers:
Joe Sala -- Trumpet
Tom Sala -- Drums
These NYC Italian brothers are part of the core of Della Reese's Pieces. As a drummer Tom Sala is a consumate studio and live player skilled at all styles. Need trumpet? Joe's the man. He is sassy, smooth, jazzy and savvy. He always gets the high note the first time -- every time. While having their own group the Sala Brothers, both are members of the Della Reese Understanding Principles For Better Living gospel church band.

Lee onstage with Tower of Power
Lee Thornburg -- Trumpet
Tower of Power, 'nuff said! Lee is the real deal. He has played on numerous Jimmy Hunter productions, and is a world-renowned professional.

Kim Yarbrough and Ollie Razzbury
from UP Church Choir

Both highly respected in their profession, Kim and Ollie are but two of the many great vocalist available to Cazador from Jimmy Hunter's affiliation with Della Reese's Church, Understanding Principles for Better Living. Hunter has access to the entire choir if needed for recording sessions.
